The owners of our 2026 Haverhill first-floor renovation loved their neighborhood and their property, but the first floor no longer worked for a growing family: the rooms were closed off from each other, storage was short and there was no open place to gather. Rather than move, they renovated the whole first floor with our team, at a $250,000 budget band.

We removed interior walls to join the kitchen, dining and living areas, and enlarged the window openings for more daylight. Behind the finishes, the job included electrical and lighting upgrades, plumbing fixture upgrades, interior trim and finish carpentry, and painting. The kitchen is built around an oversized island with its own beverage refrigerator. Along the walls are a built-in stainless refrigerator in a custom cabinet surround, double wall ovens, a professional-style gas range, a built-in microwave drawer and an undermount sink. The cabinets are light gray painted shaker with satin brass pulls, under white quartz, with white herringbone tile behind the range and red oak floors finished on site.

We did not record the schedule of the Haverhill case study. As a guide from our planning materials, a kitchen remodel takes about 6 to 16 weeks and a whole-home renovation 4 to 12 months or more, so a first-floor renovation that combines a new kitchen with removed walls falls between the two, depending on scope.
